Our Philosophy.

In short, we care about you, our team, and our shared environment. We hope you decide to join Audiodrome in our approach to doing business and to the industry.

Doing Business

We intentionally maintain a small staff, and all of us have been musicians or artists for decades. Everyone will be familiar with your order and take pride in creating a product they would want to put their name on. We don’t mind questions and are happy to spend extra time with the clients who need it.

We invest in the success and happiness of our employees. They earn a salary that is above the living wage and are provided paid vacation to pursue their own projects and passions. As we grow, so will their benefits and salaries.

We run industrial air purification equipment to minimize exposure to any chemicals released during the manufacturing process and continue to research and invest in ways to provide the healthiest facility possible.

We strive to make Audiodrome a great place to work and a space that inspires creativity.

The Industry

Audiodrome Record Pressing is currently the only facility in the U.S. that is fully powered by solar energy. We hope many others will join us soon.

We feel that it is our responsibility to reduce the environmental impact of our business and are proud to be in the ranks alongside other presses that are trying to shift the industry towards more environmentally friendly standard practices. We do this in every way we can without compromising on quality, big or small. We provide product alternatives for clients and reduce our facility’s footprint through our own use and choice of materials.

Infrastructure

Our system runs on steamless units and a closed-loop chiller system, allowing us to eliminate the use of fossil fuels, added chemicals, and the creation of waste water.

PVC

We are receiving Plastchem’s Bio-Vinyl compound in May 2024 and hope to offer it to customers early this Summer.

We recycle PVC trimmings removed during the manufacturing process and records that didn’t meet our quality control standards.

Shrinkwrap and Polybag Alternatives

Although people are used to the plastic options that have been a standard in the industry, we are hopeful that we can be part of the transition to something with a significantly lower long-term impact on the environment.

We will move away from the use of polybags and shrink wrapping over the coming years. We encourage our clients to consider the environment when selecting their packaging and incentivize the use of lower-impact alternatives.

  • Recyclable and Biodegradable Outer Sleeves - 100% curbside recyclable and biodegradable external packaging. The custom sleeve is made from FSC, SFI and Rainforest Alliance certified papers. (available late April 2024).

  • Compostable Outer Sleeves - 100% home compostable external packaging. The custom sleeve is made from cornstarch, PLA, and PBAT. (approximately 6 weeks until available)

  • Shrinkwrap - We strongly discourage the use of shrinkwrap but understand that some labels require it. When necessary we use a biodegradable and compostable film made of 51% sugarcane.

Gloves

We use washable, reusable gloves. When needed, we use biodegradable single use nitril gloves that decompose within 1-5 years. Regular nitril gloves require over 100 years to decompose.

Shipping

For clients that live within a certain radius of the facility we can arrange for pick-up or delivery options which will reduce the environmental impact of shipping.

Additional Efforts

We recycle cardboard materials and reuse the pallets and other packing materials that we receive.

For non-manufacturing needs, our facility uses FSC certified bamboo single use paper products as well as EPA Safer Choice and Leaping Bunny certified cleaning products.

Looking To The Future

PVC Alternatives

We are continuously investigating additional PVC alternatives to use in the actual production of records. There are many compounds being developed that reduce the amount of toxins created in the manufacturing process of the material that is softened and pressed into records.

Lower Impact Shipping Alternatives

  • Pallets

  • Pallet securing materials

  • Recycled cardboard shipping boxes

Air-Purifying Plants

For over a year, we have been on the waiting list to purchase bioengineered plants that are 30 times more effective at air purification than the already great varieties mother nature made. They are a new product and their ability to impact the air quality in a vinyl record pressing plant is unknown, but we are looking forward to exploring another way to prioritize the health of our employees.

Our Commitment

We are committed to continually reducing our impact as new products and opportunities become available. We take time to investigate the products we use and try to ensure that they make a genuine difference. These calculated steps can make the process of incorporating new products into our portfolio frustrating slow – there will be missteps and time spent on dead ends – but we want offer the best solutions possible.

The industry must show manufacturers that it is willing to change and that an investment in creating something as sustainable as possible is worthwhile.

If you are aware of a product that we do not currently offer, please reach out to us at info@audiodromevinyl.com, and we will investigate the possibility and feasibility of using it with your order. We are always interested in learning about new ways we could be reducing our impact.
